Dance Masters of America (DMA) is a national professional organization of dance educators who have been certified by examination. Member educators and artists are committed to the proper training of dancers and the elevation of the art of dance. Members are held to a high standard and must comply with a strict code of conduct. Dance Masters of America chapters provide continuing education for its members and collaborative workshop training opportunities for member students both locally and nationally.
To become members of DMA, instructors must take a series of exams in the styles of dance that they teach. These exams include a written portion, an oral portion, and a demonstrative portion in which they demonstrate their ability to teach properly and safely. The exam for each dance style includes terminology, proper technique, history, and more.
